Have been a researcher, teacher, trainer and learner and enjoyed every minute of it. Currently am the Vice President (Bangalore) of Nitte Deemed to be University. Earlier I was the Vice Chancellor of Jagran Lakecity University, based in Bhopal (2021-23). Had earlier spent two decades at Bangalore University (1982-2002) and eighteen years at the Jain Group of Institutions (2002-2020) of which for eleven years I was the Pro Vice Chancellor of JAIN (2009-2020). Have a wonderful family consisting of my wife Shailaja - an accomplished psychologist, son Sanjal who is an Assistant Professor at FLAME University, a daugher-in-law Nandita who is a doctoral candidate in Psychology at CHRIST University, a god daughter Nayana who is an Assistant Professor in Psychology in the United States, who is a Mom, with a bundle of joy - Maya! Over the last four decades have been passionate about my teaching and research on Politics in general, Indian politics in particular. I have tried to look at politics from the prism of elections and popular participation. Have truly benefited from more than 25,000 students who have allowed me to learn with them in the classroom.
